Mohammad-Reza Hakimi (14 Farvardin 1314 – 31 Mordad 1400 SH / 4 April 1935 – 22 August 2021) was an Iranian jurist and author. He was the first to use the title “Imam” for Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini, which led to the widespread use of this title for him. He is honored with titles such as “Allamah,” “Ostad,” “Philosopher of Justice,” and “Guardian of Monotheism”. His book Al-Hayat, which is an Islamic encyclopedia, enjoys particular fame and prestige in the Islamic world. He was one of the renewers of the Khorasan school of religious knowledge, known as the School of Separation (Maktab-e Tafkik), which believes in the separation of religion from philosophy and mysticism.
